In 1967, the Lakeshore Sanitary District was created and began implementing its plan for a new wastewater treatment plant to replace three smaller treatment plants in the area -- Beechwood Farms, Harbour Village, and Oneida Park – consolidating wastewater treatment efforts. Beginning operation in 1974, the Brewerton Water Pollution Control Plant was designed with a series of pump stations that lead to two trunk sewers, Lakeshore and Orangeport. These trunk sewers are responsible for bringing wastewater from portions of the town of Cicero, Bridgeport, and the village of Brewerton to the plant.
