The Onondaga County Department of Water Environment Protection (WEP) plays a major role in the human, environmental, and economic health of our community. Through our wastewater collection and treatment efforts, WEP decreases public exposure to pathogens and keeps pollutants from entering local waterways.
WEP has the primary responsibility of operating and maintaining the system that collects, treats, and discharges sewage generated by domestic, commercial, and industrial properties within Onondaga County's Consolidated Sanitary District (CSD). Within the CSD, WEP services include industrial wastewater monitoring, issuing discharge permits, review and approval of plumbing plans and plumbing inspections, flood control measures, county vehicle maintenance, and property emergencies.
