Onondaga County Planning Board

What We Do

The Onondaga County Planning Board (OCPB) operates under NYS General Municipal Law §239 l, m & n to advise local boards on the potential inter-municipal or countywide impact of local land use decisions. The Board uses the County’s comprehensive plans to direct its recommendations on municipal land use referrals and to review the proposed Onondaga County Capital Improvement Program.

  • GML 239 Referrals – The OCPB reviews over 500 referrals from over 100 municipal boards or other bodies per year.
  • Capital Improvement Program – The OCPB reviews the County’s Capital Improvement Plan annually.

Members

The OCPB consists of seven members. Members are appointed according to the Onondaga County Charter, with five members who are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the Onondaga County Legislature and two ex-officio voting members by virtue of their positions as the Onondaga County Comptroller and the Commissioner of the Onondaga County Department of Transportation.
