The Baldwinsville-Seneca Knolls (BSK) wastewater treatment plant, completed in 1982, was an infrastructure project aimed at modernizing the wastewater management system in the northwest suburbs of Onondaga County. This new plant was designed to replace several aging and deficient treatment facilities that had been serving the towns and villages on both sides of the Seneca River. The older treatment plants that BSK replaced were converted into pump stations by Onondaga County.

The construction of the BSK wastewater treatment plant provided a significant boost to the surrounding communities. With a modern and efficient treatment facility in place, these areas could support the development of new housing projects equipped with public sewer services.
