Facility
The Hillbrook Juvenile Detention Center is a fifty bed, 40,00 square foot detention facility positioned on 14 acres of land within Onondaga County. The facility was founded in 1974 and is currently operated by the Onondaga County Department of Children and Family Services.
The facility has traditionally housed youth who have been charged with acts of Juvenile Delinquency through Family Court or as a Juvenile Offender through Criminal Court. In addition to meeting the detention needs of Onondaga County, Hillbrook serves other counties that do not operate secure detention facilities.
In 2018, with the passing of the New York State Raise the Age Legislation, the facility also began to house sixteen & seventeen-year-old who had previously been housed in adult jails.
