The Office of the Environment represents the nucleus from which environmental policy, aimed at reducing environmental liability and maximizing effective and efficient management with regard to environmental concerns, is developed and executed. The Office mission is to protect and restore Onondaga County's natural resources, ensuring a health and sustainable environment for all.
- Develop internal county policies and procedures to minimize environmental liabilities/exposures.
- Assist county departments with environmental compliance needs.
- Coordinate interdepartmental county response to environmental issues/situations

SMART AND SAFE WATER-BASED RECREATION:
Harmful Algal Blooms- which produce toxins harmful to humans and pets-are most common in the summer months. However, it is possible for a bloom to occur at any point during the year if conditions are right.
