With the help of funding from the Onondaga Lake Partnership, Onondaga County has produced a beautiful poster by local wildlife artist Lisa McLaughlin for use by area school children, teachers in classrooms, and clubs.

Wildlife at the lake

Our poster displays some of the surprising diversity of wildlife that call Onondaga Lake home. Even many local residents are unaware that Onondaga Lake supports such a variety of animal life in its water and on its shores.

The poster's message to those of us who live in the lake's watershed is that we must play a role in keeping the lake clean—and in helping wildlife to thrive, too. It is 24 by 18 inches and full-color.

Teacher's guide

The poster has an accompanying "Teacher's Guide" that describes the animals and where they live around the lake. This guide gives teachers facts about how pollution and recent improvements in water quality have affected the lake's wildlife.
