With the help of funding from the Onondaga Lake Partnership,
Onondaga County has produced a beautiful poster by local
wildlife artist Lisa McLaughlin for use by area school children, teachers in
classrooms, and clubs.
Our poster displays some of the surprising diversity of
wildlife that call Onondaga Lake home. Even many local
residents are unaware that Onondaga Lake supports such a
variety of animal life in its water and on its shores.
The poster's message to those of us who live in the
lake's watershed is that we must play a role in keeping
the lake cleanand in helping wildlife to thrive, too.
It is 24 by 18 inches and full-color.
The poster has an accompanying "Teacher's Guide" that
describes the animals and where they live around the
lake. This guide gives teachers facts about how
pollution and recent improvements in water quality
have affected the lake's wildlife.
The poster and teacher's guide
are available free.
