Controlling floatables in Harbor Brook

Netting collects debris in Harbor Brook
Netting collects debris in Harbor Brook

Urban trash can all too easily reach streams and Onondaga Lake in the Syracuse urban area. Stopping the trash enables residents to make fuller and more satisfying use of area streams and the resources of the Lake.

By removing debris from Harbor Brook, Onondaga Lake will receive less visible pollution.

Onondaga County has placed a floating net-bag collection system—consisting of three net bags—at the end of Harbor Brook near Onondaga Lake to collect and remove ordinary trash and floating items before they reach the Lake.
