CSO Disinfection Workshop—Response Summary

On October 15, 2002, Onondaga County conducted a half-day workshop entitled “CSO Disinfection.” A list of attendees that signed-in is includd in the appendix of the attached responsiveness summary.

There is no formal stenographic record from the workshop. However, we have prepared a summary proceedings. Presentations are in brief bullet form. Questions and answers are paraphrased—not exact quotes. Also, in many cases, we have added additional clarification to answers to provide a more complete resource on the topic.

Excerpt from the workshop
Use of chlorination-dechlorination has proven to be more commercially advanced, more reliable and more cost-effective than the alternatives. Given the highly variable flows and influent strengths, chlorination-dechlorination is the preferred technology at this time. This technology does not preclude implementing a different technology when one becomes more feasible.
