The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office (OCMEO) supports the education of college-level students interested in forensic pathology, forensic toxicology, medicolegal death investigation, and medicine by providing relevant learning opportunities, work experience and by serving as mentors and role models. The OCMEO provides interns with the opportunity to observe autopsy examinations, shadow forensic investigators at medicolegal death scene investigations, and/or assist in the forensic toxicology laboratory. Students will also perform various job duties and complete special data collection and/or research projects.
The OCMEO will only accept internship applications from college-level students* with a focus on forensic pathology, toxicology**, and/or medicolegal death investigation. Internship opportunities are restricted to students in the following areas of study:
• Biology (physical, pre-med)
• Forensic Toxicology
*Priority will be given to students seeking to earn college credit for completing an internship
**Toxicology requires chemistry.
