DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves responsibility for performing a variety of routine manual, clerical or recreational work in departments of Onondaga County government during the absence of regular employees. Under immediate supervision, individuals in this capacity perform a wide variety of basic and routine assignments that assist in the normal functioning of governmental operations throughout the year. Although the majority of participants work only during the summer season as needed and available, participants may also work during other seasons of the year. This allows for meaningful employment for students and youth and for a smooth flow of governmental operations. This job may function in any department of Onondaga County government and be supervised by regular governmental employees. Supervision is not a function of this classification. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
May act in a clerical capacity, assisting with phones, filing, record keeping and light typing.
May act in a laboring function by cutting grass, shrub and rubbish removal or flagger in a road repair gang.
May act in a recreational setting involved in monitoring of activities in an organized recreational program, working with youngsters in play, craft or athletic activities.
May perform tasks of a basic nature in areas of assignment other than those described above.

Ability to work with fellow employees.
Ability to deal in a courteous manner with the general public.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
